How To Be Humbled in 30 Seconds
I swear...technology humbles me every day. There's TOO much to know
Over the past few years I've:
- Written thousands of lines of code ๐
- Read hundreds of IT infrastructure support documentation ๐
- Read multiple books like "Modern Data Protection" by ๐ค W. Curtis Preston, "Virtualization Essentials" by Matt Portnoy, "The Phoenix Project" by Gene Kim
- Passed a few IT certifications โ
YET...I still wouldn't classify myself as ~technical~
I think my biggest struggle is being able to re-call that information on the fly. If someone were to ask me: "What's OSPF and how would you configure it on a router?" or "How would you apply abstraction in object-oriented programming?"
My response would be: uhhhh ๐คค๐คค๐คค, even though I've reviewed both topics many times!!
Realistically, no one would ask those questions, but you get the point. Tech is so broad and unless you're touching that technology every day, you're bound to forget it.
Being a technology enthusiast will always be a humbling experience.
